Emergency Services for Our Clients
The life of a veterinarian includes ensuring your pet is supported by the best emergency care possible. To that end, Yucca Veterinary Medical Center's staff and resources are available to help you with any emergency your pet or large animal experiences. During our normal business hours, please call in advance if possible so we can prepare for your arrival. If you are experiencing a veterinary emergency outside our normal business hours, please call (505) 864-6001 to receive assistance.
When Should I Seek Emergency Care for My Pet?
The easiest answer as to whether you should seek emergency care for your pet is when you feel his or her medical condition is serious and cannot wait. However, the following general situations should help you determine if you need to seek emergency care for your pet:
- Difficulty breathing
- Acute abdominal swelling
- Electric shock
- Excessive vomiting or diarrhea
- Bleeding
- Exhibits symptoms of heat stroke
- Seizures
- Sudden onset of weakness
- High or low temperature (more than 104 or less than 100 degrees)
- Inability to urinate or defecate
